Antarctica was always a place on our bucket list. Our trip there came maybe sooner than we expected after Holly's Mom became inspired by a Hallmark movie in which some of the filming was done on the southernmost continent. We decided to make it part one of our two-part honeymoon.Â
To-date, it is the best cruise we've ever gone on. We got exceptionally lucky with the weather and every detail of the itinerary. It helped, also, that we had the most skilled cruise ship captain at the helm. Captain Leo Palaiokrassas got us safely through the Drake Passage (some of the roughest seas and tallest waves in the world) twice, scouted out unique wildlife including penguins, seals and whales native only to the Antarctic, and sailed the ship (alarmingly) close to majestic icebergs and snowcapped Antarctic mountains.
Below are photos from our port cities of Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, and Porto Madryn, Argentina; Antarctica; Port Stanley of the Falkland Islands and Montevideo, Uruguay.
